Founded in 2010, Chronic Long Beach is one of Long Beach’s original medical cannabis dispensaries. After the City of Long Beach’s case, Summary Pak v. The Superior Court required us to close our doors on August 12, 2012, we decided to jump head-first into the fight for safe and legal cannabis access. An appreciation for cannabis and deep love for our community is why we’re founding members of the Long Beach Collective Association (LBCA), advocating for safe cannabis access, fair policies, and lower cannabis taxes.
In addition to our political advocacy, Chronic Long Beach is dedicated to providing welcoming and friendly customer service. Our cannabis consultants make sure that every guest has an attentive and unique shopping experience. To buy medicinal cannabis in California, you must be 18 years of age or older and have either a current physician’s recommendation, a valid county-issued identification card, or be a Primary Caregiver as defined in Health and Safety Code Section 11362.7(d).
To buy adult-use cannabis, you must be at least 21 years of age or older with a valid government-issued ID.
Yes. All customers at Body and Mind are required to show a government issued photo I.D., like a driver’s license or passport, to verify their age. Per California regulations, you must be of legal age (21+ or 18+ with a medical card) to purchase and consume marijuana.
In California:
ADULT-USE If you are 21 years of age or older, you may purchase up to one ounce (28.5 grams) of cannabis and up to eight grams of cannabis concentrate, including cannabis concentrate contained in cannabis products, in a single day.
MEDICINAL If you are 18 years of age or older and have a valid physician’s recommendation or a valid county-issued medical cannabis identification card you can purchase up to 8 ounces of dried cannabis and up to twelve immature plants in a single day. If your medical needs require a larger amount of cannabis, your physician may recommend and document a larger amount of cannabis in your physician’s recommendation. To buy medicinal cannabis, you must be 18 years of age or older and have either a current physician’s recommendation, a valid county-issued medical cannabis identification card, or be a Primary Caregiver as defined in Health and Safety Code Section 11362.7(d).
Purchasers are required to pay the following taxes when purchasing cannabis or cannabis products:
15% excise tax charged by the State of California;
10.25% local sales tax for the City of Long Beach; and
6% for Medical Cannabis Patients who have a valid doctors’ recommendation; or
8% for Adult-Use Cannabis with valid government-issued ID
– You can use cannabis on private property. However, property owners can still prohibit the use and possession of cannabis on their privately owned property.
– Smoking or vaping medicinal cannabis, and use of any adult-use cannabis (including edibles), is not legal in any public space.
– You cannot smoke cannabis where smoking tobacco is prohibited.
– You cannot use or consume cannabis at a licensed dispensary or any other business in the City of Long Beach.
– You cannot use cannabis within 1,000 feet of a school, day care center, or youth center while children are present. If you are on the grounds of a private residence, you may smoke cannabis at the private residence only if the smoke is not detectable by others on the grounds of the school, day care center, or youth center while children are present.
– You cannot use cannabis while riding in or driving a vehicle, boat, or any other vehicle used for transportation.
